About the client
Incorporated in 1998, IGL took over the Delhi City Gas Distribution Project in 1999 from GAIL (India) Limited (formerly Gas Authority of India Limited). It aims to provide safe, convenient and reliable natural gas supply to domestic and commercial customers, working with its network of gas pipeline laying contractors.
The challenge
IGL wanted to geo-tag all of their gas pipelines and the wider gas pipeline network so that assets could be located, visualised and managed accurately.
What we delivered
We carried out a ground-level survey for IGL's contractors to geo-tag the gas pipelines and associated assets. Using a GNSS device paired with an Android mobile application, we captured high-accuracy coordinates, then filtered the data for further processing and created a land base. The work included GIS mapping of already-laid pipeline networks through ABDs, plus GIS mapping during MDPE laying, and complete digitalisation of the captured data into the required formats.
Our GIS services enable visualisation of geographic data, analysis of spatial relationships and efficient data management, while GIS data conversions merge data from different sources into one common format for easy access, analysis and utilisation.
The outcome
As a result, IGL's Operations & Maintenance team can capture and track their network assets and monitor real-time progress in the field — with every process digitised and adhering to PNGRB compliance requirements.
